Let the Mystery Tour begin 1 November
Next stop was a wholesale supermarket just north of Barcelona. We've never seen anything on the scale of this place & I do wonder how we will ever eat the amount we bought (a good problem to have!)
Too much!!
This is a No Gracias!!
After an hour, we pull up at a helipad and Albert makes a phone call. After a lengthy and heated discussion he 'appears' to be very cross and says the pilot forgot and he was in France!
So, 'To Plan C'. We drive in the dark for 15 minutes and stop at Mas La Riera. Luckily they just happen to have a vacancy for four people. It is a lovely country-style complex in the middle of the Catalan pre-Pyrenees.
We head off late Thursday morning to explore. Albert is the driver and tour guide.
The countryside is magnificent and we feel we are in the middle of nowhere:
First stop is Sant Maria de Montgrony Sanctuary and Sant Pere church from 9th century. At an altitude of 1408 metres, we were provided with a fantastico view.
At 3pm we went onto lunch at Ca l'Amagat (similar but different) in a little laneway in the beautiful village of Baga. We had the Menu of the day - For 21 Euro: small pumpkin soup, bread roll, chicken & veggie wok noodles, whole bream with potato & creme catalan. Very nice!
The village is quite lovely, even though it was raining lightly:
Then a steep drive up the mountain at sunset:
After this day, I have nothing else to say ....I agree with Miss Barcelona the mountain adventure was a stunning day and Baga real-estate is much cheaper than Barca - and it is a beautiful little town. Off for a walk in the forest now and then another mystery lunch somewhere - more on that in the next post
