More Pre Pyrenees - 4 & 5 November

The map below shows the different areas we visited on our mystery tour with Albert and Diana:

It was a fantastico few days.

On Sat, 4th, we headed north to visit friends/customers of Albert & Diana, Maria Theresa and Joan Carlos,  in a very remote forest near Sant Joan de les Abadesses. The three-bedroom, two-story cottage, which they use as a retreat from Barcelona, was built in the 1800s. It was so secluded and peaceful - perfect retreat.

Maria Theresa sits in this rocking chair & watches her 'TV' - birds, squirrels & other wildlife.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with Maria Theresa & Joan Carlos - a delightful couple.

We then drove to Camprodon where the Bridge, Pont Nou, is the town’s main attraction. The original bridge was built in the 1300s, damaged by earthquake and civil war and rebuilt.

Although the weather wasn’t good, we still enjoyed strolling the streets and the architecture which was quite different to other towns & villages.

On Sunday, before returning to the bustle of Barcelona, we drove up close to the French border to visit the village of Queralbs, situated on the side of the mountains:

A video by Diana:

We had a coffee at a little bar that had a big Foster’s beer sign over the door. It looked pretty ordinary from outside but the view from our table upstairs was magnifico.

This small church was consecrated in the 10th century. The columns are blue marble.
